Medical Assistant Scholarships – Should You Take Advantage?

What they don’t tend to advertise is the fact that they expect these employees to remain in their employment for a specific time period. Medical assistant scholarships and grants are not the same thing!
Students often confuse medical assistant scholarships and grants but they are not the same thing. Scholarships tend to be offered by the schools which provide medical assisting training. An employer may also offer a scholarship or a low cost loan to enable you to get your certification. Grants on the other hand tend to be offered by Government agencies in a bid to help everyone get a qualification. Grants will only be awarded to those students who qualify (see below) and are attending a recognized educational course. Not all online medical assistant degree programs will meet this requirement so it is best to check first.
How do I qualify for medical assistant grants?
There are certain rules which determine whether you qualify for a grant or not but the Federal grant website is worth looking at. The length of the course you do will have an impact. Some funding is only available if you are studying for a program that lasts at least two years so this would help if you were considering one of the medical assistant associate degree courses available. The grant may be means tested which means that your financial situation will be accessed to see if you qualify.
If you don’t qualify for a grant you may be eligible to get tax relief on the cost of your medical assistant training. It is certainly worth looking into whether tax credits are available.
